During the coming months you can expect to see several new adventures for Ogres and Underworlds, Swords and Savagery and Old School Adventures from New Realms Publishing. The majority of the adventures will be set in and around the Glimmerdale area. By sharing a common setting and story lines, these adventures can be linked together to form a campaign.
Glimmerdale first appeared as a setting in UA8 Darkness Under Glimmerdale, the eighth release in the Universal Adventures series. More recently, the Swords and Savagery adventure, A1 Tunnels of Terror, was also set in Glimmerdale. The adventure site, Hollow Hill, which appeared in AP1 Ogres and Underworlds Primer Pack, and GD1 The Halls of Hollow Hill, is located near the hamlet of Harmony, which is a few miles west of Glimmerdale. All of these are part of the Glimmerdale Campaign.
During the coming months the campaign will be expanded and as many of the adventures as possible will be made available for all three systems. The adventures for the separate systems will not be exact duplicates with different stats plugged in. The adventures will be re-written for each system, and even the “story line” and order of play, may be changed. This is to ensure that the adventure is as perfect a fit for the system as if it were written for it (because it will be) and to provide a few surprises and variety for those familiar with the adventure from another system. What will remain the same is the site(s) in which the adventure takes place and the general campaign conditions.
The first release should be A2 Death Fog, for Swords and Savagery. Like A1 Tunnels of Terror, Death Fog will be based on the Perilous adventure of the same name. Versions of A1 and A2 will be made available for Labyrinth Lord, for 1sth and 2nd level characters, and will take place prior to the events described in GD1 The Halls of Hollow Hill. The remainder of the Perilous adventures, Death Wind and Death Knell, will be re-written for both systems, and other adventures may be released in between.
What exactly this means for Ogres and Underworlds hasn’t been fully planned yet. More than likely, the characters will have an opportunity to travel to Glimmerdale and take part in some of the events which occur in the A series for Swords and Savagery. Another possibility is to make the adventures available in a different form or model, which is another project I’m working on, or do both.
The Crysamar Vale (CV) adventures may also be made available for Ogres and Underworlds and Swords and Savagery and could be tied into the Glimmerdale Campaign. In fact, the start of The Horror of Hollow Hill assumes the characters are in Ravenor. For those familiar with the CV modules, Glimmerdale is located within the Crysamar Vale, about a day’s travel north along the Crysamar River and a few miles east along the Glimmerill. Glimmerdale, however, sits outside the bounds of the Raven Lord and is something of a free state.
Fans of O&U need not fear, though, while I hash out the details for the adventures, there are several supplements that’ll be released in the meantime. And if you need something to do with your characters, there is always the Universal Adventures decks and the monster book and cards from O&U.
